Abstract
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system can be analyzed by several performance variables. SAR system performance can be improved by optimizing the factors which affect the SAR system performance variables. Range ambiguity to signal ratio (RASR) is a SAR performance variable which represents the level of range ambiguous signal. Because SAR system radiation pattern has important effect on RASR, RASR can be reduced by reshaping radiation pattern. In this paper, analysis of various SAR system performance variables and technique to design antenna mask pattern for optimizing RASR are presented. In simulations, radiation patterns were synthesized with reference to the mask pattern designed by the proposed technique. The RASR reduction of synthesized beam pattern was confirmed
