Abstract
This study examines the scheduling problem for the mold allocation of the semi-finished product in shoe manufacturing. The scheduling problem includes several machine-related and operational constraints on a company in the real world. The semi-finished product is produced by a Rotary Molding Machine. This study focuses on shortening the production end-time; i.e., on minimizing the maximum among the production end-times of the set of all machine. The scheduling algorithm to solve this problem is designed based on Divide and Conquer strategy. The large problem is divided into several sub-problems, which are all solved, and the solutions are combined. In this process, a heuristic method and Variable-sized Bin-packing are executed sequentially. Experiments using datasets from a real shoe manufacturing company confirm that the method is effective.
