Abstract
We designed the beam optics of electron gun for the C-band klystron used as the RF source in the ITER LHCD system. We scanned the parameter for optimization of gun geometry using the EGUN code. A solenoid magnet was designed to focus the beam, spreading as it passed through the drift tube. We checked the sensitivity of the electrode which is the most sensitive part for beam optics to determine the machining tolerance. When the temperature of the electron gun rises to emit the electrons, the structures around the cathode expand thermally. The thermal deformation affects the beam optics. To create the fabrication drawings, we calculated the temperature distribution and thermal deformation of the electron gun assembly using the ANSYS code.
