Abstract
With the development of science and technology, demand for smaller and more precise products is increasing in various industries. In order to manufacture and produce safe and reliable products it is very important to evaluate the mechanical properties of the materials used in the products. In this thesis, the relationship between the initial crystallographic orientation and the mechanical properties of 99.999% pure aluminum was studied by manufacturing a high temperature micro tensile tester. The high temperature micro tensile tester was manufactured by using Al6061 frame, and the driving part was fabricated by using servo motor, worm gear, lead screw and so on. In addition, a heat stage for elevated temperatures up to 300 ° C was added to evaluate the mechanical properties at high temperature. Single crystal and multicrystal specimens obtained by strain-annealing method from 99.999% aluminum were uniaxially stretched at a strain rate of 0.0005/s and were taken in real time by using a camera. Based on the photographs, the strain was measured using DIC (Digital Image Correlation). A program written in the C# programming language drives the tensile testing machine and receives the position of the cross head in real time to measure the strain. Young's modulus, yield strength and tensile strength of single crystal and multicrystal specimens were obtained. Also the plastic deformation behavior of single crystal and multicrystal specimens according to the initial crystal orientation is also examined through the EBSD results measured before and after the tensile test.
