- Abstract
- An intense L-band electron linear accelerator is being installed at CESC (Cheorwon Electron-beam Service Center) for industrial applications. It is capable of producing 10-MeV electron beams with a 30-kW average beam power. The beamline consists of an E-gun, a pre-buncher, an accelerating column with a built-in bunching section, focusing solenoids and a beam scanner. A beam commissioning scenario is established with simulation results of the PARMELA code. The input RF power into the accelerating column and the input beam current determine the output beam energy by the acceleration gradient and the beam-loading effect, respectively. The beam transmission rate depends on the input RF power into the pre-buncher and its phase difference relative to the accelerating column. The beam properties are also calculated under beamline misalignment. A beam commissioning scenario is established for proper operating conditions with radiation safety.
