- Abstract
- We have fabricated DyMn2O5 ceramics by using the hot-forging (HF) method, and in this paper, we discuss the magnetoelectric and the phase transitions confirmed by X-ray diffraction, specific heat, magnetic susceptibility, and dielectric constant measurements as functions of the temperature and the magnetic field. The DyMn2O5 ceramics with a large magnetoelectric effect exhibited a clearly ferroelectric and antiferromagnetic transitions at low temperature, and a large change of the dielectric constant with magnetic field, about 14 % at 5 K and 9 T was discovered and was associated with an unusual commensurate-incommensurate magnetic transition. The coupling between the magnetic and the dielectric properties was confirmed for DyMn2O5 ceramics in which the magnetic field modifies the ferroelectric state.
