LONGITUDINAL COUPLED-BUNCH INSTABILITIES IN A STORAGE-RING

Abstract

Coupled-bunch instabilities in a storage ring are investigated by deriving the formula from basic principles. In this report, a previously known Formula presented by Wang and Pellegrini is improved by including tbe missing term exp(i Omega Delta phi/h omega(0)). We apply the resulting formula to the storage ring of the Pohang Light Source and identify potentially dangerous higher-modes of the RF cavity.
