- Abstract
- This paper proposes a method to drive an AC plasma display panel at a significantly reduced scan time. To reduce the scan time, the proposed method uses an unselective dark reset discharge, which turns on all cells weakly, and then writes the picture data using a selective charge-inverting scan discharge. After writing the data for one sub-field, the cells that were not subjected to the scan discharge are erased by a dark erase discharge. Using the scan pulses as narrow as 1.2 mus, we demonstrated that the proposed method could display an 8-bit picture with a sufficient sustain-voltage margin. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
