- "Urination is an important physiological process that excretes waste products present in the body, and bladder dysfunction is
caused by functional and anatomical abnormalities, and includes overactive bladder (OAB) and underactive bladder (UAB).
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is known to provide good results in the treatment of various brain diseases. Subthalamic nucleus
(STN) was important therapeutic target regions for patients with Parkinson's disease with bladder dysfunction and has an effect
of increasing the urinary activity and reducing excessive urination activity. We implanted electrodes in STN using female rats,
and stimulated them with 100 Hz, 1 mA, 100 us for 30 minutes and observed urination activity through cystometry. As a result,
DBS in the STN regions changed the urination pattern"
