- Abstract
- In this instruction, we present a small multi-channel pump using a Braille display, an electro-mechanical device for displaying braille characters for the blind and visually impaired. Several studies have been utilizing Braille displays, but no multi-channel pump has been developed for researchers to make use of easily. Thus, we developed a multi-channel Braille pump which can deliver up to 8 different liquid samples at different flow rates, eliminating the need to purchase additional syringe or pneumatic pumps when multiple liquid samples are to be delivered into a microfluidic chip. Other than that, we developed a smartphone application to help users easily control the proposed pump. The users can set period and Braille pin patterns for each Braille cell cycle so as to control flow rates. The proposed pump can be utilized for many studies employing multiple samples which do not require high flow rates.
