- Abstract
- Full-duplex radio is the next-generation wireless technology that can transmit and receive frames simultaneously over the same channel. Recently, as self-interference cancellation technologies have evolved, full-duplex radio has become possible. In this letter, we propose a new medium access control (MAC) protocol designed for full-duplex radio. In the proposed MAC protocol, the downlink station on a full-duplex link uses an acknowledgment frame to report its buffer status information to the access point (AP). Then, the AP can establish a successive full-duplex link to provide a transmission opportunity to the station without contention. Our performance analysis and simulation results indicate that the proposed MAC protocol achieves throughput gains compared to existing studies. © 1997-2012 IEEE.
