dc.description.abstractIn this thesis, a repetitive controller with phase-lead compensation is proposed for a single-stage Cuk inverter operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and continuous conduction mode (CCM). The Cuk inverter features medium power capacity, step up/down ability, and low input/output current ripples, so it is well suited to distributed power generation systems. But the single-stage Cuk inverter using the conventional proportional-integral (PI) controller shows poor steady-state response due to the grid-voltage disturbances and the phase-lag caused by two right-half plane (RHP) zeros in its transfer function. To achieve accurate tracking of the reference output current, the repetitive controller is used with a conventional PI controller and a nominal duty ratio. And, to compensate for the phase lag, a phase-lead compensation algorithm is implemented in the repetitive control scheme. In developing the proposed controller, the average model is derived for the Cuk inverter operating in CCM and DCM in the grid-connected case. detailed and practical design guidelines of the control parameters are provided to develop the Cuk CCM inverter and the dual-mode Cuk inverter. Experimental tests using a 500-W digitally-controlled prototype inverter demonstrate the desirable performance of the proposed control approach.-
