dc.description.abstractWe used the light box using the high refractive index waveguide concept to improve optical properties of CMOS image sensors. The optical efficiency and crosstalk were calculated by using a three-dimensional (3D) FDTD simulation. By using the light box, we can improve optical efficiency of CMOS image sensors. Also, we developed plane wave approximation based on impedance matching concept to optimize the light box thickness. Applying the plane wave approximation, we can set initial optimum thickness. Then, we confirmed the optimum thickness using a 3D FDTD simulation.en_US
