- Abstract
- By using yeast artifical chromosome (YAC) clones, we have generated a contig map of the long arm of the Arabidopsis thaliana chromosome number 1. Using the six chromosome 1-specific RFLP markers, seventeen YAC clones were identified, and the end clones of these 17 YAC clones were isolated for further chromosome walking. At least two YAC clones have been identified for each of the RFLP markers used. The YACs encompass at least 27.2 cM genetic distances in the RFLP map between the RFLP markers, 2488-B and 17311, which cover 3,800 kb in chromosome 1 of the genome. The YACs we identified also include two Arabidopsis mutant genes, ap-1 and clv-1.
