- Abstract
- Mn-doped ZnS hybrid crystals with two-dimensional platelet morphology were prepared and their luminescence properties were studied with the variation of Mn concentration. The photoluminescence derived from Mn2+ increased with increasing Mn concentration to x = 0.2 in Zn-1 xMnxS(en)(0.5) (en = ethylenediamine), but further increase reduced the photoluminescence. According to structural study by synchrotron X-ray techniques, the bond distances of Mn-N and Mn-S were longer than those of Zn-N and Zn-S in ZnS(en)(0.5), respectively. Manganese atoms were most highly doped into tetrahedral Zn sites without impurities at x = 0.2, where the maximum photoluminescence was observed. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
