- Abstract
- A diagnostic beamline has been operated in the Pohang Light Source (PLS) storage ring for the diagnostics of electron and photon beam properties. It consists of two 1:1 imaging systems: a visible-light imaging system and a soft X-ray imaging system. We have measured the transverse and the longitudinal structures of beams by using a streak camera to obtain a visible image. Accurate transverse beam sizes have been measured to be 186 mu m horizontally and 43.1 mu m vertically by using soft X-ray images with minimum diffraction errors. The col responding emittances are 11.7 nm-rad horizontally and 0.59 nm-rad vertically. By comparing the measured data with the design values, we confirmed that the PLS storage ring has reached its desgn performance within an error of 3.3% in the transverse direction.
