Nanoparticles of Ni, Ru, and Ni-Ru oxides have been prepared by electrodeposition of these metals coordinated into the dendrimer molecules, and their electrochemical and catalytic activities have been evaluated. The dendrimer molecules used were amine- and hydroxyl-terminated poly(amidoamine) dendrimers. The nanosized particles thus prepared showed significantly enhanced catalytic activities for oxidation of ethanol compared to bulk metal oxide electrodes. (C) 2000 The Electrochemical Society.
