Abstract
We measured how molten steel level in the continuous casting process is affected by bulging disturbance and compared accuracy achieved using a time-delay compensation disturbance observer (DOB) with a phase lead adaptive fuzzy controller (PLAFC) to that of the time-delay compensation DOB. We tested proposed control methods using 1:1-scale hardware simulator and calculated accuracy to choose a good control method in the high-speed casting process. The time-delay compensation DOB with PLAFC was more accurate than the time-delay compensation DOB for both low-speed casting and high-speed casting. These results will be useful for real casting process because accuracy of the molten steel level system is a serious constraint in the high-speed casting process.
