- With three-dimensional numerical analysis, the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of Airfoil shape fin type PCHE (Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger) were investigated. There are some previous studies of which purpose is to design the shape of the heat exchanger with appropriate thermal-hydraulic performance which could be applied in supercritical Brayton CO2 cycle. In this research, it was verified that the shape of airfoil fin affects the thermal-hydraulic performance of the heat exchanger. The research was conducted about NACA0020-62, NACA0020-63 and NACA0020-66 model. For comparison, zigzag channel PCHE was also conducted as a control group. According to the research, under the same Reynolds number, it was validated numerically that the pressure drop performance of the Airfoil shape fin PCHE is relatively higher than that of the Zigzag channel PCHE. Among the Airfoil shape fin model, NACA0020-63 has the best pressure drop performance. The heat transfer performance of the Airfoil shape fin PCHE is also higher than that of the Zigzag channel PCHE. Each NACA0020 model shows almost same heat transfer rate. With friction factor f and Colburn j factor, the result was analyzed. From the analysis, compare with the Zigzag channel PCHE, Airfoil shape fin PCHE has low friction factor and high Colburn j factor. The consideration of friction factor and Colburn j factor shows that the thermal-hydraulic performance of each NACA0020 model is quite similar.
