This paper deals with electromagnetic wave scattering analysis on wind turbine blade using the radar cross section(RCS). RCS prediction is one of the popular and the novel approaches to analyze electromagnetic wave scattering.
RCS is the property of a scattering object, or target, that represents the amount of the echo signal reflected from the object to the radar. The techniques to predict RCS can be categorized into the low frequency and the high frequency methods, according to the size of the target with respect to the operating frequency. High frequency methods such as geometrical optics(GO) and physical optics(PO) can be used to predict the specular component of the scattering mechanism and provide fast and robust solutions to scattering from electrically large and complex target.
In this paper, a numerical scheme based on PO method is developed to predict RCS of non-perfectly conducting body. Using computational results we analyze the effect of wind turbine blade to obstruct radar signal.
