- This thesis proposes a quadratic boost converter using a passive snubber circuit. The proposed passive snubber circuit consists of two capacitors, two didoes and an inductor. The proposed converter was built and tested at input voltage of 50 V, output voltage of 200 V, output power of 50 W and switching frequency of 120 kHz. The measured voltage stress of MOSFET and diodes were 50% lower than those of the conventional quadratic boost converter operating at the same operating conditions. Also, the measured duty ratio was decreased by 40% than that of the conventional quadratic boost converter operating at the same operating conditions. These results show that proposed quadratic boost converter reduces the voltage stress of switching devices and increases the voltage conversion ratio compared to conventional quadratic boost converter. Consequently, the analysis results verify that the proposed quadratic boost converter is suitable for high voltage application.
