- In order to improve Ni-Mg/Al2O3 catalyst activity and thermostability for SNG reaction, several dopants(La, Ce, Ca, Fe, Co, Mn, Sr, Zr) were applied to investigate their performance under harsh ageing environment. Impregnation was used to load dopant. Characterization analysis(XRD, TPR, BET, TGA and TEM) were applied to explore the properties of reduced and used catalysts. Among the dopants, La is a promising additive for its high initial activity and excellent thermostability. Other additives doped catalysts exhibited gradual activity loss during the ageing period. La additive helps to stabilize metallic nickel phase through the formation of LaAlO3 which is observed in the XRD pattern. By changing the amount of La, we compared their performance. Among the catalysts tested, 5wt% La exhibits the best performance for improving the activity and thermostability of Ni-Mg/Al2O3 catalyst.
