- Simplified structure of bulk hetero-junction polymer solar cell (PSCs) with poly(3-hexylthiophene) and phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (P3HT:PCBM) is demonstrated without the hole extraction layer of PEDOT:PSS. O2 plasma treatment under 1000 mTorr increases the work function from 4.62 eV to 5.05 eV while maintaining the low resistivity of 2.45ⅹ10-3 Ωcm. The high workfunction and low resistivity of ITO anode results in efficient hole transport at the ITO/P3HT interface. The surface modification onto PSCs exhibit high power conversion efficiency of 3.73%, same as PSCs (3.63%) with PEDOT:PSS, but its life time dramatically enhances comparing to conventional PEDOT:PSS device.
